The answer to your first question is “NO”.
No, we aren’t rich and no, we aren’t digital nomads
(though we admit that sounds like fun!).
Traveling fulltime isn’t possible for everyone… but that shouldn’t stop any of us from getting out and seeing the world.
I (Pam) have a demanding career and Jeff has been a stay-at-home parent. As a single income family, it means that it was even more challenging to find the money to travel. But we’ve done it, and you can too!
We are very (VERY) good at getting the most experience out of short blocks of travel time. You don’t have to travel fulltime to have amazing and authentic travel experiences. You don’t have to save a massive amount of money to have the “trip of a lifetime” either. You just have to know how to travel on a budget and plan well.
We can help you with that!
About 10 years ago we had an “AHA!” moment.
We realized that, with a few small changes to our lives, along with some mad research and planning skills that we already had under our belts, we could change our perspective on travel. Instead of waiting until a seemingly unachievable date (retirement?) to travel, we could pack our bags and start traveling now.
As well, just to really convince us, we read statistics that suggested that the average life expectancy is 78 years. That would only give us around 10-13 years after retirement (probably less depending on health and mobility) to travel.
Wait. What? We had too many places on our bucket list to make that work.
So, instead of waiting, we made the decision to get out and see the world while we are young(ish) and can truly enjoy it.
Since then we’ve been to rum distilleries in Antigua, ridden a Slingshot Roadster to a cigar factory in the Dominican Republic, spent a LOT of time in Paris living like a local (Paris je t’aime!), visited the ruins of the Berlin wall, climbed mountain paths to castles in Germany, been stranded at the top of Shilthorn mountain in Switzerland (with an EPIC helicopter rescue), eaten like a local in Prague, spent a night out in ruin bars in Budapest, and so (so!) much more…
What we’ve learned while traveling is that, no matter where we go in the world, people are so much more alike than they are different. Travel changes your perspective. Travel brings us all closer together. It’s powerful.
You’ll find here our stories, tips, and planning advice to inspire you to get out and begin their adventure.
Be brave. You can do this too!
